The European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) represents the European gold standard in life sciences when it comes to conferences, courses, symposia, and workshops.
... Courses and workshops of various kinds are annually available to students and researchers all around Europe, and the focus of such events are usually centered around specific research areas or methodology of timely scientific importance. The 1-week EMBO practical course in protein-lipid interactions, with emphasis on the latest computational and advanced experimental methods, was organized at Biomedicum Helsinki, Finland, in July 2017. EMBO provides an impressive plethora of courses and workshops annually. The quality is considered top tier in Europe, and the variation in subjects is wide. My background is in biochemistry, and during my research I have mostly characterized protein-lipid interactions using biophysical methods, like circular dichroism spectroscopy, small-angle scattering, reflectometry, surface plasmon resonance, atomic force microscopy, and calorimetry. The reason I decided to participate in this course was to learn about computational methods and gain an insight into techniques involving microscopy. I received travel support from NBS, which made the course participation financially possible.
The EMBO practical course titled "Protein-lipid interactions:
Advanced experimental and computational tools" was organized in Helsinki, the most populous city of Finland, which together with the neighboring municipalities of Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen forms the Finnish Capital region with a total population of 1
