BIPV is a photovoltaic system that is used to replace conventional building materials to produce power and perform as a building envelope material by having features such as mechanical rigidity, primary weather impact protection, fire and noise protection, energy economy etc.
The aim of this PhD was initially defined to investigate BIPV technology from different perspectives such as architectural, technical, economic and aesthetical aspects. I carried out a market study and literature review in the early phase, and it was figured out that almost all the architectural and aesthetic challenges and concerns can be coped with by diverse ranges of BIPV solutions already available in the market (and developing fast).
